Lincoln Christopher McCord was born on May 18, 2006, in Greenville, Texas, to Keith and Stephanie McCord. He passed away on May 21, 2026, in Magnolia, Texas, at the age of 20.
Lincoln grew up in Magnolia, where he attended Magnolia High School and graduated in 2025 in the top ten percent of his class. Throughout high school, he was an active member of the school’s band program, playing percussion. Those who knew h6im described him as reserved at first, but warm and full of life once you got to know him. A lifelong friend, Trent Ford, remembered him as someone who was “the loudest in the room” once he felt comfortable, always laughing and always generous with the people around him.
Faith was central to Lincoln’s life. He was a committed follower of Christ and spent much of his high school years leading small groups for junior high students at his church. He took that role seriously, mentoring younger boys and hoping to help them avoid some of the mistakes he saw as common at that age. His mother, Stephanie Spurgeon, described him as a natural leader who was confident in his beliefs and not easily swayed by others.
After high school, Lincoln pursued his long-held goal of attending Texas A&M University, where he studied engineering. He completed his freshman year there and became involved in the campus Overwatch esports team, one of several ways he built community on campus. Family and friends recalled that reaching A&M had been a clear goal of his for years, and that he worked independently and responsibly to make it happen.
Lincoln is remembered by his mother, Stephanie Spurgeon, and stepfather, Dallas Spurgeon; his brothers, Garrett and Levi Spurgeon; his grandparents, Ray Ann McCord and Randy and Sharon Rainwater; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Keith McCord, and his grandfather, Don McCord.
Those who knew Lincoln remember him as someone who loved his family, his faith, animals, and video games in equal measure, and who brought steadiness and warmth to everyone in his life. Arrangements were entrusted to Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia-The Woodlands, Texas.
